Welcome to my Chaiathon page!
Sophia Miscione
Dear Friends and Family,
As I prepare for my Bat Mitzvah, I am also involved in a mitzvah project to put my Jewish values and identity into practice. Becoming a Bat Mitzvah marks the moment I take on adult responsibilities within the Jewish community. In Judaism, a mitzvah means a good deed—an act of kindness and empathy. As I reflect on the many blessings in my life, I think about the things that bring me joy and the experiences that have shaped me. One of the most meaningful of these is my time spent at Camp Romaca in Hinsdale, Massachusetts.
Camp Romaca has given me a sense of belonging, community, and personal growth. It’s where I’ve made lifelong friendships and where I’ve learned valuable life lessons. It’s become my “happy place”—a second home that nurtures my confidence and encourages me to step outside my comfort zone.
For my mitzvah project, I’ve chosen to support Camp Simcha, a special camp for children with life-threatening or chronic illnesses, run by Chai Lifeline. My family has supported Camp Simcha for many years, and I’ve always been happy to know that our contributions help other children have an incredible summer. Camp Simcha provides these children with a safe, fun, and supportive environment where they can just be kids. It offers a chance for them to escape their daily struggles, make lasting memories, and create bonds of friendship.
Like many of you, I have experienced the joy of summer camp. I was 9 years old when I started going to Camp Romaca, and every summer since has been filled with unforgettable experiences. I’ve made so many amazing friends, and the camp has helped me grow in confidence, responsibility, and resilience. I want every child to have that same opportunity, which is why I’m raising funds for Camp Simcha.
Your donation will help provide children with specialized care, medical support, and fun camp activities—things that make Camp Simcha such a life-changing experience. Every dollar you give will help cover the costs of sending a child to camp, ensuring that they get the full camp experience, regardless of their medical needs.
Through this project, I hope to share the joy of camp with children who truly deserve it, and I’m deeply grateful for the love and support I’ve received from my family, friends, and the Camp Romaca community. Thank you for helping me make a difference in their lives.
With love and gratitude,
Sophia
